Vision
Provide sustainable future in a safe environment to the most disadvantaged children, women and youth.
Mission
Bakenga’s Empathy aims at providing effective overseas development aid to the most disadvantaged targeted groups in East Africa and the Democratic Republic of Congo.
To support and partner with organizations that aim to improve the quality of life of orphaned children and young adults in communities impacted by war and AIDS.
Objectives
Provide financial support to non-governmental organizations (NGOs) caring for children orphaned or displaced by the HIV/AIDS pandemic.
-
Make equity-grant investments in sustainable development projects that will improve the quality of life of orphans. i.e. (building schools & orphanges)
-
Use the individual abilities and skills of volunteers to support projects and consequently help alleviate the suffering of orphans.
Bakenga’s Empathy is looking to support several NGOs in multiple countries in Africa, with a vision to expand in number and geographic locations as our financial resources grow. Our collective efforts in the next 5 years will contribute to improving the lives of more than 10,000 children in the communities our NGOs operate, Build 50 houses for disadvantaged single mums, send 15 tousand youths to a Vocational Training Program, build 1 orphanage and one Primary School so that orphans will have free education.
With your assistance, we aspire to help many more!
A key objective is to recruit volunteers around the world and give them the opportunity to provide hands on assistance to personally make a difference in the lives of children.
Help engage their knowledge and abilities by providing technical expertise in addition to financial support to the projects we’re funding.
We aim at organizing an international group of Bakenga’s Empathy Volunteer/employees at least once per annum, at their own expense, to volunteer a week of their time and energy to assist. Funding
Bakenga’s Empathy uses three types of funding for projects:
-
One-time Grant Funding.
-
Enterprise Development / investment funding i.e. social and patient capital.
-
Skills Development and Education funding.
One-time Grant Funding:
The intent of this type of funding is to provide support for immediate assistance for short-term / emergency situations that vulnerable people encounter. This might be building a home or paying a hospital bill to save a life of a single mum or an orphan. The organization is required to demonstrate a genuine need and report how the funds will be used. This type of grant does not require a commitment from the Trust for further funding.
Enterprise Development & Investment Funding:
-
Social capital (loan) – with the expectation of income generation or in support of income generating ventures.
-
Patient capital (loan) – expansion of existing income generation ventures – this is the preferred funding mechanism for enterprise development.
Skills Development & Education Funding:
Funding for bursaries, schools and Early Childhood Development, technical training and life experiences opportunities.
